I start with a collaborative assessment of project complexity, needs, and impact. This informs a flexible framework that includes understanding user & business needs, defining the problem with stakeholders, brainstorming solutions, iterative refinements, hand-off, and success evaluation. While the core stages remain consistent, the tools and techniques used are tailored to each project's unique requirements.

About Me
I’m a Product Designer @ RBC with the soul of an anthropologist who thrives on helping people see things differently and solving complex problems.
Previously, I made business validation more accessible to aspiring solopreneurs at Dimeadozen.ai, helped marketers boost customer engagement with AI at Movable Ink, innovated the future of financial auditing at Auvenir, and empowered cities to prevent climate change-related disasters with Making Cities Resilient.
My Design Journey
My journey began with a B.A. in anthropology, where I honed my ability to understand human behaviour within a cultural context. From here, I transitioned to advertising, where I leveraged consumer behaviour insights to craft compelling messaging. However, the desire to create meaningful solutions led me to UX design, which combines the deep empathy and analytical rigour of anthropology with the creative spark of advertising. As a designer, I use both sides of my brain to craft intuitive and delightful experiences.
Skills & Approach
Dissecting Complexity
Beyond UX, I have a deep fascination with anatomical illustration. You might wonder how these seemingly disparate worlds connect. Surprisingly, this hobby informs and strengthens my approach to UX in several key ways:
Curiosity and analytical thinking: Both disciplines involve dissecting problems and making sense of complexity.
Clear visualizations: Both require clear and logical visual representations of complex processes and flows.
Meticulous precision: Both demand accuracy in details and overall design.
Holistic understanding: Both emphasize understanding the interconnectedness of individual components within a larger system.
Fun Facts
-
I have a pair of John Fluevog boots named after me (they’re Gothic pilgrim style, which is 100% my aesthetic)…
-
My last name should be Schlager, which is Polish/Galician Jewish and can be translated as “to strike.”
-
My family inherited an island in Norway with an abandoned bird sanctuary but they turned it down. (Which is too bad, because that sounds like a great premise for a horror film…)
